22nd December – Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Today is the last day of our Mayan Adventure. Here's a GAP map showing how much we travelled.

This morning we bid “see ya later” to Sandia. She is off back to Orlando and onto New York for two weeks. After that she will be in Ireland using that as base to explore Europe. We can’t thank Sandia enough for her kindness. Most of the these photos from the last three weeks were all taken on Sandia’s second camera. Thanks a million Sandia!!

More blog work today…. But at least we got to spend an hour and a half on the beach with Claudio and Sara. I did some snorkeling and swimming with Claudio while the girls chatted girl stuff on the sun beds. We watched sunset and came back for more blog work. Whilst the blog is as much for our record, it is also for the number of other people who read it and tell us how much they enjoy it.
That night Team Italia and Team Australia went out for dinner. First up we hit a wine bar and where we shared a vino rosso from Sicilia. Later we sat on a side walk table at an Italian restaurant. The owner was from Riminy, not far from Cesena, home of Team Italia. These two were in awe talking to someone who comes from just down the road and who spoke their regional dialect. They both were wrapped.

We ended up sharing octopus carpacchio, thinly sliced legs and body on flour tortillas drizzled with olive oil. We washed this down with a nice bottle of Itailian white. Strazzapretti was the highlight of the menu for Sara, so I went the same. The spaghetti is hand spun and when mixed with shrimp (prawns) and zucchini, it tastes bellissimo. Tan had the usual, ravioli and she thought it was great too. We had a great night chatting and enjoying Claudio and Sara’s company. We have to go back to Italy to share another Italian feast again. “La cena era ottima!”
