4th of July - Vancouver

Independence Day which is an awesome hit in Canada …. Pause….. Not!! As you could imagine it means nothing to Team Canada.

Tonight, after a big day of doing less than expected Brendo and I caught up with Mick and Neil (both geologists) for a game of chip and putt. It is such a beautiful surrounding here with green grass fairways and the mountains with snow in the background and beautiful sunny days. Chip and putt is an approach wedge and a putter with fairways some 40 to 80m long. Even with an approach wedge it is a tough job getting the dimpled piece of plastic on the short green stuff. I blame my poor performance on the squirrels and the local homeless population scrounging through the bins!! A respectable 15 over after nine holes meant I come in on the 75th percentile. An awesome way to spend the afternoon.
We retreated back to English Bay and with the sun out it was a sight to behold.. No white pointers though. I am starting to realize how important the first hint of sun is to native Vancoverites. Maybe it is a sign of things to come with the grey skies and incessant rain.. Doesn’t matter in the scheme of things.

It turned out to be one of those absolutely random nights of drinking beers with Brendo and Mick until 3am. Not very good for a school night but all the same it was a ball!!!
